Parameters: For a longer assignment:  Approximately one-half to three-quarters of a page. For a shorter assignment:  Approximately one brief paragraph

Brief Conclusions may be used at the end of any subsection. At the end of any subsection, you may want a summary / conclusion statement that summarizes the main point(s) made in that subsection

The summary/conclusion should begin with a new re-statement the thesis.  Repeat the thesis in new words.  The writer should try and demonstrate how they supported the thesis and eventually confirmed it.  This is done through summarizing and emphasizing the main points of the assignment.  Explain how they relate to one another.  Upon hearing or reading a conclusion, the observer should have a good sense that the assignment achieved its goals.

The conclusion should summarize the most important points of the research.  As was mentioned on the Webpage on the Literature Review, it is often very difficult to pick the most important points of the research. It is the job of the author to do so in this section

In the conclusion the analyst may decide to directly voice their own opinion.  While this is not absolutely forbidden in other sections of the paper, the conclusion is the section where the author may clearly state their opinion and offer speculation
