The Meno

• The Meno reflects the transition from Plato’s early Socratic period to his mature period of the middle dialogs.

• The goal in the dialog is “get at one common notion of virtue as of other things.” This reflects the Socratic concern with definition.

• The dialog also advances the Socratic position that one cannot knowingly do evil.
