- Proclus is the last and greatest figure of the Athenian Platonists. Soon after his death, the Christian Emperor Justinian closed the neo-Platonic school and its adherents fled to Persia.
- According to the biography written by his student, Marinus, Proclus offered daily devotions to the sun and moon, and observed not only the Greek religious holidays, but those of several other religions as well.
