Ancient & Medieval Philosophy -- David L. Rouse
- This marks an important difference between philosophy and its mythico-religious predecessors. Philosophy is open to argument and refutation. Religion is not. Yet if a claim is not open to argument, there is no basis for its refutation, nor is there a basis for its substantiation. In short, the possibility for the growth of knowledge is not present.
