About the Twinleaf Society

The Twinleaf Society is a voluntary group representing all retired employees of the University of Virginia's College at Wise who wish to maintain contact with the College and each other.  The Society was founded in 2003.

Upon realizing the interest of establishing a retiree group, the parties involved sought to select a name that would best reflect the identity of the group.  After careful consideration, the name, Twinleaf Society was chosen.  The symbolic importance of "Twinleaf" is twofold.  "Twin" denotes the dual nature of the group, faculty and staff.  While "Twinleaf," a plant with the generic name of Jeffersonia, is the ideal tie between the group and Mr. Jefferson's university.
