High School Leadership Retreat  

Held annually, the High School Leadership Retreat provides an opportunity for student leaders from area high schools to enhance their leadership abilities.  Sessions will provide opportunities to both initiate and sharpen valuable leadership skills.

Holly Ball  

Holly Ball is held each December. Semi-formal/formal attire is requested. CAVS Card ID required; each student may be accompanied by one guest with ID.

 

 

 
Homecoming  

Homecoming 2009 events will occur during the week of September 29-October 3, and include the new tradition to recognize the outstanding spirit of UVa-Wise clubs & organizations. The Silver Saber Spirit Competition will be conducted on a point system (1st - 10 pts. / 2nd - 6 pts. / 3rd - 4 pts.) awarded to the top-spirited/best performing organization for each of the many scheduled events.

The winner of the Silver Saber Spirit Competition will be announced at Saturday's Homecoming football contest.  The winning organization will received a Silver Saber Spirit trophy, addition of the organization name to the Silver Saber winners' plaque and a $250 prize (sponsored by the SGA and the Alumni Association).

One of the most-cherished UVa-Wise traditions, introduction of the Homecoming Court and announcement of the Homecoming Queen and King will be conducted at half-time of the CAVS football contest which begins at 1:30 pm.

Miss UVaWise  

This annual scholarship pageant is held during the spring semester.

 

 

 
Office Hours  

Members of each of the SGA Branches have weekly office hours to provide members of the student body an opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns about campus issues.

The Student Government Association is located in the Student Leadership Wing on the third floor of the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center.  The office telephone number is 276/328-0213.

Weekly Meetings  

All students enrolled for six or more semester hours at the College are considered members of the Student Government Association during the time of their enrollment.

Weekly meetings are held each Friday at 1 pm in the Rhododendron Room on the fifth floor of the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center.  All meetings are open to the public.
