- The argument is that Achilles can never overtake the tortoise.
- Before he could overtake the tortoise, he must first reach the position previously occupied by the tortoise.
- But by then the tortoise has moved on a bit.
- So again, before Achilles can overtake the tortoise, he must reach the position previously occupied by the tortoise, etc., ad infinitum .
