Ancient & Medieval Philosophy -- David L. Rouse
- While at his Abbey of Saint Denis he argued that Denis, the martyred apostle of Gaul, could not have been Dionysius the Areopagite. To avoid trial before the King of France, he fled to the court of Theobald of Champagne.
- There he tried to live as a hermit, but was pursued by students wanting him to resume teaching.
- In 1125 he accepted a position as abbot in a Briton monastery, but soon ran into troubles there as well.
